Replacement parts for the AMT/ERTL 1:1400 Galaxy Class model can be purchased as a combination pack or individually. Details below.
The upgrade pack includes an accurate replacement dorsal piece ("neck") for the 1:1400 Galaxy Class, an aztec panel decal to match the style included with recent re-releases of the kit, the saucer windows forward of the Captain's Yacht that are missing from the stock kit, and Star Trek: Generations style pod details for the warp engines.
Note: The opaque parts are highly recommended unless the model is to be lit; the white resin castings are less brittle than the clear resin, and generally easier to work with.

The enhanced dorsal or "neck" piece is designed as a "chop and replace" piece, replacing most of the non-structural part of the neck piece included with the kit.
The improved details include a much-accurized impulse engine, completely redesigned window pattern, accurized shuttle bays, and accurate repositioning of all of the major features. The clear piece benefits from the inclusion of an integrated light box for the impulse engine.
Included with this part is a Star Trek: Generations style engine decal. Panel decals matching the design of the recent re-release of the kit are available separately. A decal design created to match Carlos Zangrando's popular set available at StarShipModeler can be downloaded below.

These decals are designed to match the style and colour of the panel "wallpaper" decals that are included in recent re-releases of this kit. The kit-supplied decals will not align with the features of the replacement part. This sheet also includes a simulated light decal that can be layered with the engine grille to create the effect of an active engine without the need to paint.
It should be noted that this decal still requires some masking and painting to achieve a look compatible with the stock kit decals.

This part enhances the model by adding windows missing in the lower saucer piece. The studio model has an indent for windows in the area just forward of the Captain's Yacht, but still inside the ventral sensor strip oval.
The Tetryon part is superior to others in accuracy, as it follows the contour of the sensor band rather than having a rectangular leading edge.
The opaque version is highly suggested unless the model is to be lit.

With the release of Star Trek: Generations, the Enterprise-D saw several minor alterations to its visual effects miniature. In addition to a new paint scheme, several small details were added to the hull. Among the most visible are small pods added around the formation lights on the warp engines.
While recent re-releases of the kit address the existence of the pods through decal artwork, this part allows for a real, physical feature. The Tetryon part is superior to others because it is not simply a plant-on; there are details sunken into the engine piece itself.
These come in a pair.

Mastered by Jeff Goldsack, these replacement impulse engines will help overcome the shortcomings of the overly-square original kit pieces.
The replacement impulse engines feature an overall more accurate, smoother, tapered shape. There are engraved panel lines, and a hint of engine grille pattern.
The parts come in a pair, and are very straightforward to apply as direct replacements to kit parts.
